Abstract

With the deepening of economic globalization,Chinese corporations go abroad and operate globally. In this process,the corporations are facing increasingly serious CSR issues in overseas operations which have already brought much negative impact on the corporations and even on Chinese government’s reputation. How to avoid these issues and get double-win in both economic and social benefit in overseas market? How to build positive image for our corporations investing abroad? These questions must be faced and answered in the going out process. Applying empirical research methodology,we try to investigate the current situation and characteristics of the CSR of Guangdong provincial state-owned overseas corporations,and put forward some improvement suggestions. The main contents are:

Chapter 1 introduces the background of the CSR issues of the Chinese overseas corporations,the requirements and suggestions of the Chinese political leaders and the relative government departments regarding CSR issues;

Chapter 2 studies the basic theories of CSR,especially the definition and classification of CSR and its mechanism,so as to establish theory foundation for further studies and discussions.

Chapter 3 summarizes the general features of cross border corporations’ CSR as compared with those only having domestic operations,so as to reflect the unique nature of this book’s research objective.

Chapter 4 analyses the characteristics and general trend of CSR strategies of western multinational corporations since 1990s,so as to provide a reference for the investigation.

Chapter 5 reviews domestic and foreign studies about CSR issues of multinational corporations,and explains the possibilities of this study in enriching and developing relative studies.

Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 introduce the main situation of Guangdong provincial state-owned corporations and their CSR,and their overseas corporations.

Chapter 8 investigates the CSR of Guangdong provincial state-owned overseas corporations based on questionnaire from the following five aspects of CSR management,market performance,environment protection,employee welfare and social public welfare.

Chapter 9 discusses the main characteristics and limitations of Guangdong provincial state-owned overseas corporations based on the above investigations.

Chapter 10 gives some suggestions to corporations and public sectors respectively for improving the CSR practice of Guangdong provincial state-owned overseas corporations.
