罗忠镕,作曲家、教授,1924年生于四川省,三台县。
1942年在四川艺术专科学校开始学小提琴,1944年转入上海音乐专科学校继续学习。
1949年于上海音乐学院干部专修班教和声学;1951年到北京中央乐团创作组工作;1960年开始,同时在中央音乐学院作曲系兼授作曲课;1985年任中国音乐学院作曲系教授。
1985年获德意志联邦共和国“德国学术交流中心(DAAD)”(Deutscher Akademicher Austauschdienst)学者奖学金,受邀前往西柏林从事创作和其他音乐活动,并在柏林举行了作品音乐会。
2004年获中国音乐金钟奖“终身荣誉勋章”。
主要音乐作品:
管弦乐曲:《第一交响曲》《第二交响曲“在烈火中永生”》,交响序曲《庆祝十三陵水库落成典礼序曲》《江南序曲》,交响音诗《江姐》《保卫延安》《暗香》《罗铮画意》,管弦乐组曲《洪湖赤卫队交响组曲》《四川组曲》《广东民间乐曲三首》《蒙古舞曲两首》;
室内乐队乐曲:《弦乐三章》《琴韵》;
室内乐:《弦乐四重奏》四部,《管乐五重奏》《圆号与钢琴奏鸣曲》,三重奏《同均三宫》;
民乐重奏与独唱:《唐人绝句五首》《送别》;
钢琴曲:《小奏鸣曲》三首,《五首无声音阶前奏曲与赋格》《钢琴曲三首》;
艺术歌曲二十余首。
在音乐理论方面,出版著作《作曲初步练习》和译作《作曲技法》《勋伯格和声学》等八部,并发表学术论文,如《谭小麟艺术歌曲的和声硏究》和《嫦娥自述》等多篇。
BIOGRAPHY OF LUO ZHONGRONG
Luo Zhongrong, Chinese composer and professor, born in Sichuan, China, started music lessons in 1942 at Sichuan Provincial Art Academy in violin. He continued violin courses at Shanghai Music Academy to which he transferred in 1944.
Luo taught harmony in 1949 at Shanghai Conservatory of Music. From 1951 he worked as resident composer at Central Philharmonic Society. He also gives composition lessons in the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. In 1985 he became professor at China Conservatory of Music and has lectured there on composition and harmony.
In 1985, holding Deutscher Akademicher Austauschdienst (DAAD) scholarship, he was in West Berlin, where concert of his works was given with success.
His principal compositions are:
(1) Orchestra:two symphonies, two overtures, five symphonic poems,five suites.
(2) Chamber Music:four string quartets, Wind Quintet, Sonata for French Horn and Piano, and Three Movements for Strings,Tune of the Qin for Qin and Chamber Orchestra.
(3) Piano solo:three sonatinas, Five Pentatonic Preludes and Fugues, and three Piano Pieces.
(4) Vocal music:more than twenty art songs, many chorus and arrangements.
Besides musical compositions,Luo undertook the translation of musical books from English into Chinese. The following translated works have been printed:Paul Hindemith's Traditional Harmony (book 1 and 2), The Craft of Musical Composition (vol.1 and 2), Alnord Shoenberg's Theory of Harmony, George Perle's Serial Composions and Atonality, Ellen Forte's The Structure of Atonal Music.
