Embedded microcontrollers

Embedded micro-controllers have the largest integration value. This is due to the following reasons:

• All of the components are internal to the controller
• They are used when high computing power is not required
• They are very cheap
• They are characterized by the following:
  • A medium or low power ALU
  • A small, built-in RAM, ROM, and EPROM
  • Integrated I/O signals
  • Integrated timers
