Configuring and customizing the notification area

As mentioned earlier, the Notification area (see Figure 4.11) is part of the Windows Taskbar and is located on the far right side, to the Action Center. It mainly contains items running in the background. That way, it provides information to users about the network, battery level, volume level, and system clock status. All of these icons are also referred to as system icons. Depending on the applications installed on your computer, the Notification area can contain other background items too:

To configure and customize the Notification area, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. With the Start menu open, select Settings.
  3. Select Personalization from the Windows Settings dialog box.
  1. Select Taskbar on the Personalization setting's navigation menu.
  2. From the Notification area section (see Figure 4.12), you can opt for Select which icons appear on the taskbar and Turn system icons on or off:
