Provisioning with the Windows Configuration Designer tool

The Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) is the first-run setup experience that enables the configuration of Windows 10 devices purchased from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Connecting to a network, joining a domain, and creating an account, are just some of the settings that need to be configured during the first-run setup experience. The grouping of these and many other tasks together is known as provisioning, which represents a task to configure end-user devices. In this way, Windows provisioning makes it easy for system administrators to specify desired configuration and settings, thereby configuring devices in a matter of minutes. A provisioning package, .ppkg, is a file that contains configuration settings. However, Windows provisioning does not remove the software pre-installed by the manufacturers that is commonly known as bloatware. Because of that, organizations frequently prefer to employ the wipe and load method, where Windows imaging plays an important role. Windows provisioning is best suited for small and medium-sized businesses.
