Setting Internet Explorer Internet options
Can you think of how many times you've accessed Internet options in Internet Explorer to configure the home page, the zone's security settings, pop-up blocker, LAN settings, add-ons, advanced settings, and so on. I think you will agree that Internet options is the most clickable thing after the Start button in any Windows version (except Windows 8).
To access Internet options in Internet Explorer, complete the following steps:
- At the top-right corner of the Internet Explorer window, locate the Tools (Alt + X) button next to Favorites (Alt + C) button.
- Clicking on the Tools button opens a menu with Internet options as the penultimate item on it (see the following screenshot):
To delete the browsing history when exiting Internet Explorer, complete the following steps:
- From the General tab of the Internet options dialog box, locate the Browsing history section.
- Check Delete browsing history on exit (see the following screenshot), and then click OK to close Internet options:
To manage AutoComplete in Internet Explorer, complete the following steps:
- Click the Content tab in the Internet options dialog box.
- Locate the AutoComplete section.
- Click the Settings button, as shown in the following screenshot, and then review the options offered:
- Click OK to close AutoComplete Settings, and again click OK to close Internet options.
To set the program that you want Internet Explorer to use for editing HTML files, complete the following steps:
- Click the Programs tab in the Internet options dialog box.
- Locate the HTML editing section.
- Click the drop-down list, as in shown in the following screenshot, to select your favorite HTML editor:
- Click OK to close Internet options.
To reset Internet Explorer's settings to their default condition, complete the following steps:
- Click Advanced tab in the Internet options dialog box.
- Locate the Reset Internet Explorer settings section.
- Click the Reset button, and then click OK to close the warning dialog box (see the following screenshot):
- Click OK to close Internet options.
