Penetration Testing Execution Standard

The Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES) is made up of seven phases that cover all aspects of a penetration test:

  • Pre-engagement interactions
  • Intelligence gathering
  • Threat modeling
  • Vulnerability analysis
  • Exploitation
  • Post exploitation
  • Reporting
