How is it used?

談及數量少的幾個人或幾件事，通常用a few，單獨用few時，兩者意思不同。

a few與複數的可數名詞搭配。

• A few of the names on the list were familiar.

名單上有些熟悉的名字。

• I managed to sell a few of my old toys at the fair.

展覽會裏我成功賣了我幾個舊玩具。

• A few of the passengers felt seasick.

幾個乘客暈船了。

• You have answered a few of the questions incorrectly.

你答錯了幾個問題。

• A few of the houses on the new estate are still unoccupied.

新住宅區裏有些房屋至今仍然丟空。

a few也可以單獨使用，而無須後接of。

• Most of the students passed the exam but a few failed.

大多數學生通過了考試，但仍有些人不及格。

• Sue picked a few blackberries from the bush and ate them.
