Since its setting-up in 2015，RDI has always taken it as the principle to serve the scientific，democratic and law-based decision-making of the CPC and government.It centers on the major issues needing urgent settlement by the CPC and government，including new science and technology and industries in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution，BRI，and major practical issues in economic and social development，actively carries out domestic and international research，and forms a series of prospective，targeted and constructive research reports for decision-makers'reference through in-depth discussions and coordination with various sides.It has given full play to its important functions as an application-oriented think tank in policy consultation and advice for governments and enterprises，theoretical innovation and social services.

In the past five years，RDI has devoted itself to promoting the transformation of application-oriented research results.The 48 research reports completed have received important instructions from the leaders of the central government and the State Council，providing suggestions to the central government for decision-making，and professional and constructive policy recommendations to the local governments，which have improved the comprehensive analysis and assessment and strategic planning capabilities of the local party committees and governments.In 2019，with the strong support of CASS，CAS，CCID of MIIT，the Office of the Central Commission for Integrated Military and Civilian Development，the CCUD，and local government agencies such as Qingdao Municipal Government，Ningbo Municipal Government，Policy Research Office of Suzhou Municipal Government，and Financial Services Bureau of Hengqin New District，RDI completed a total of 10 research reports on three major themes，including“New Technologies and New Industries in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution”，“Key Node BRI Countries and Regions”and“International Inter-regional Cooperation Mechanism under the New Pattern of Opening-up”.Meanwhile，RDI has focused on international hot issues.On October 22nd，2019，Newt GINGRICH，former Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S.published his book Trump vs.China：Facing America's Greatest Threat.Once published，this book became Amazon's No.1 best-seller in the category of Political Trades & Tariffs online.RDI and CCID translated this book in consideration of its important reference value in the analysis and judgment of China-U.S.relations and the international situation.
