Time for action—adding View details

  1. You should already be on the page to begin stage two of View creation. You will see that the title is Create View Step two: Details. Start by giving a title to your View. You may have to search for your View later, so remember to make your title relevant to the content.
  2. Next, give your View a description and add some tags. These tags work in the same way as the tags you added to your files in Chapter 3, Add Files and Blogs to Your Portfolio. Remember they make it easier for you to search for your View later on, so it is worthwhile taking the time to fill them in.
  3. Finally, choose a display name. You can decide whether or not to show your First name, Last name, Full name, or Display name. This name appears at the top of your View. Punam decides to choose just her First name:
  4. Click on Next to finish the second step of View creation.

What just happened?

You have just added some important details to your View, including the title, description, tags, and display name. The description section is a really useful way of saying something important about your View before someone has even clicked on it.

Tip

Make your View description attractive

Users can get a brief impression of what your View is about by reading the description when they are searching for Views. It is a good idea to make this as attractive and descriptive as possible. Give an introduction to what you will be talking about in the view. Imagine your description to be a snippet from the front page of a newspaper; you want to summarize the most important facts from your View but also make it interesting so that people want to read on. Including an image in the description is one way of making the View more attractive.

Let's move to the final stage of View creation—Access.
